St. Joseph School is closed until May 4, 2020

March 25, 2020

Statement from Stephen A. Perla
Superintendent of Schools
Diocese of Fall River

In response to Governor Charlie Baker’s announcement, all Diocese of Fall River elementary, middle and high schools will be closed through Friday, May 1st and plan to re-open Monday, May 4th.

All closed Catholic schools have been urged to make their best effort to carry out the academic mission of the school via various methods. Because this situation continues to be fluid, we will provide updates as necessary.

Any questions should be directed to the leadership of your individual Catholic school or the Catholic Schools Office at (508) 687-7301.

Join Bishop Edgar da Cunha in saying the Rosary

This coming Sunday, March 22nd, Bishop da Cunha is going to convoke the whole Diocese to join him in prayer as we pray the Rosary asking for the intercession of our Blessed Mother that we may all get through this crisis as soon and as safe as possible.

He will lead the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and it will be live streamed on Facebook from the diocesan Facebook page, and on the diocesan website:

Bishop da Cunha welcomes you to his virtual prayer service!

To support our Catholic school community during this time of unprecedented difficulty, Bishop da Cunha has offered to lead our community in a virtual prayer service. A time of sacrifice and preparation for the promise of new life that we will celebrate at Easter, this Lent in particular is a stark reminder of our need for each other and, most especially, the grace of Jesus Christ.

Bishop da Cunha will air his prayer service via live stream on:

Date: Friday, March 20, 2020
Time: 10 AM

Duration: About 15 minutes

We welcome the entire Catholic school community – students, parents, teachers, administrators and friends – to join us on Friday to pray together during this time of need.
